Financial Assistance

The average cost to educate a child is $9,900.00  per year. In as much as our tuitions are less than our cost, discounts of tuition are not practical or acceptable. The fundraising efforts of the Parent Volunteer Group (PVG) are necessary in order to maintain the tuition at the lowest possible level.

For those that need assistance with tuition, the State of Florida offers several programs. St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian School and the Theotokos Preschool Program are in compliance with the Florida Department of Education regulations and standards and, therefore, are State approved to participate in the programs listed below.

These are:

  • Florida Voluntary Pre Kindergarten Program (VPK)

This program is designed to prepare four-year-olds for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success. The program allows a parent to enroll his or her eligible child (four years old by September 1 and residing in Florida) in a free VPK program. The program is voluntary for children and providers. A school-year program consists of 540 instructional hours.

The Theotokos Preschool Program offers 3 hours of instruction each day to meet the 540-hour requirement. The Theotokos Preschool Program also offers an extended day Preschool Program for those parents who desire a full day of preschool activities.

For more information and to enroll in the VPK program, visit www.vpkflorida.org

  • Florida School Choice, McKay Scholarships for Students with Disabilities Program

Florida's school choice programs ensure that no child will be left behind by allowing parents to choose the best educational setting for their child. The McKay Scholarships for Students with Disabilities Program provides Florida students with special needs the opportunity to attend a participating private school during the school year. The McKay Scholarships Program also offers parents public school choice. A parent of a special needs student who is dissatisfied with the student’s current school may choose to transfer their student to St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian School or other public or private school.

Children with disabilities who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) may qualify for the Theotokos SLD/LD program.
