Stanford 10 Test Comparisons - May 2007

St Nicholas students tested above the 90th percentile using the Stanford Ten Achievement Test, ranking their students among the best and the brightest in the country this year.

All grade levels at St. Nicholas ranked above the national norm and national average, an impressive feat for a school that has only been serving the community for four years. “Even more exciting is the fact that we have scored above the national norm every year since the beginning,” says Regina Planes, School Administrator. “We have small class sizes and most of our teachers hold master level degrees in addition to their Florida Teaching Certificate. We go the extra mile to make sure our kids have the best learning environment possible and these test score prove we are on the right track.”

“We are extremely proud of the recent results,” says Jerry Theophilopoulos whose father, the Very Reverend Father Tryfon Theophilopoulos, with William and Regina Planes founded the school in May, 2003. “We believe the dedication to provide the best learning environment possible coupled with the support we receive from the community is the key to our growth and development. Over the past four years private business, professional groups and individuals have provided financial support through fund-raising activities and direct contributions to the school. (See our sponsors page for a current list)

St Nicholas also offers a special education program for students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP). Classes are available for children who have both severe learning disabilities and learning disabilities. For children with IEP needs the school is qualified for McKay Grant program which pays for the qualifying students’ tuition. St. Nicholas is also eligible for tuition payment under the States Pride of Florida tuition assistance program.

The Stanford Ten Achievement Test which covers reading, lexile measure, mathematics, language, spelling, listening, science and social science, has been used by educators for more than 80 years. It compares schools, individual grade levels and each student nationwide in public, Christian and private systems.
